The name Porch Light is inspired by the small town of Chelsea, Michigan. Each time Katie sees her grandmother's porch light on she knows everyone is invited to gather for a cocktail, coffee, and a captivating sense of community. Katie found her way to cooking after MSU business school and working in the corporate world for nearly 10 years. The creative expression and ability to bring people together around food led her to discover and pursue her true passion. After attending culinary school at Schoolcraft College and spending a summer working in Greece she still hasn’t stopped learning and adding to her cookbook collection. Paying respect to seasonal ingredients and creating authentic experiences keeps her inspired. A good book, a well made negroni, and adventures with her toddler Theodore are among the important things.

Rachel has always been passionate about the connections between food, health, and community. With a love for spending time with family and friends over good meals and conversations, she often finds herself in the kitchen creating inviting dishes to share. In 2012, Rachel decided to turn her passion into a career and attended Cook Street School for Culinary Arts in Denver, CO. Prior to launching Porch Light Gatherings, Rachel founded Relish, a successful personal chef company serving clients in greater West Michigan. During the six years she led Relish, Rachel developed a deep love for Michigan produce, creating unique dishes, and delighting her clients. When she's not in the kitchen, Rachel enjoys hiking, reading, yoga and visiting her family in Colorado.
